Book Reviews

I love to read! Ever since my mom taught me to read when I was a toddler, I’ve loved reading. Originally, fiction books were my favorite. As a kid, I enjoyed reading such series as The Hardy Boys books by Franklin W. Dixon, the Redwall Abbey books by Brian Jacques, and The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. As an adolescent, I loved reading the Harry Potter series and J. R. R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. But for the past few years as I have provided occasional pulpit supply and then as a youth pastor, my favorite books have become theological. (I have also enjoyed some of the history books I’ve had to read for my history major classes at The University of Alabama.) Below are links to books I’ve reviewed and reflected upon for my blog.

  1. Kevin DeYoung, Just Do Something
  2. Michael Reeves, The Unquenchable Flame
  3. Kevin DeYoung and Greg Gilbert, What Is the Mission of the Church?
  4. Daniel B. Wallace and M. James Sawyer, eds., Who’s Afraid of the Holy Spirit?
  5. David Platt, Radical
  6. David Platt, Radical Together
  7. James M. Hamilton Jr., God’s Glory in Salvation Through Judgment
  8. Russell Moore, Tempted and Tried
  9. Mark Gregston, Tough Guys and Drama Queens
  10. Tremper Longman III, Job
  11. Thom S. Rainer, I Am a Church Member
